Bassam Helwani is a Syrian-American activist and cultural diversity specialist who has documented the stories of early Arabs and Muslims in Kansas City. He is the founder and president of Culturally Speaking, an organization that has been providing opportunities for people of various faiths and cultures to have positive, meaningful interactions since 1991. Helwani writes a weekly Culturally Speaking Corner column for various national newspaper and provides cultural diversity training for businesses in the Midwest.
His company, B-InTouch, provides outsourcing IT services in the areas of Call Center applications, CRM, database management and web/social media presence.
Helwani’s wife Diana is from Kansas. She’s an author and co-founder of Culturally Speaking.
