Kanaan (Fanoun) and other pioneers of KC’s immigrant Muslims in the early 70s. Their efforts resulted in the establishment of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City, and the Islamic Center they founded became the nucleus of the many Islamic centers in the region.
