A few pictures and a conversation about the establishment of the Islamic Center on James A. Reed Road. H.N. Khan and Dr. A.R. Mir reminisce about A.F. Kanaan (Fanoun) and other pioneers of KC’s immigrant Muslims in the early 70s. Their efforts resulted in the establishment of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City, and the Islamic Center they founded became the nucleus of the many Islamic centers in the region. Take a listen.

Thank you for sharing this video; though I have only lived in KC for a year, there is a strong message behind this compilation for my indigenous generation: there are big shoes to be filled and great lessons to be learned from our pioneers across the United States. May Allah(swt) grant us the ability to make such an attempt.
